Hallway entity at Original Springs Hotel.
This image gathered from our crew was discovered after they re-created the scene of Ben taking his own life for this episode. We theorized that if there was indeed an entity in that image, then it may have been angered and/or triggered by our re-enactment of such a horrific moment. Ben Schierbaumâs decision to end his life occurred at the most vulnerable time in his life, and we postulated that perhaps our re-creation was either deemed insensitive, or it somehow tapped into that moment.
That sense of loss is nothing to be trifled with, and visually toying with a personâs feeling that any chance of happiness was forever robbed from them, so much so they were compelled to take their own life, made us think that an entity may have lashed out in anger as a result. Itâs just a theory, but itâs very interesting that the only visual evidence we gathered at the hotel occurred when we filmed this re-creation, and in the same location Ben took his life.
Another segment of one of our other runs in the Original Springs started to pique our interest during the evidence review process as well. During our run of the third floor, we couldnât resist leaving the eerie hallway and spending some time in the even eerier room where Conrad Paeben had reportedly poisoned himself. Just outside that room, in the hallway, was where Tom Rogersâs body was found. Although we didnât notice it in the moment as our eyes darted around the darkness while listening for footsteps, our handheld camera picked up pressure change registrations on our Data Logger. It was like watching footage from the climactic scene of a horror movie, except we shot it ourselves in less than sixteen hours and it had actually happened.
We had referenced Tom Rogers and how he met a tragic end at this location and then boom: two pressure changes registered on the Data Logger. When we tried to further pursue that line of questioning, we didnât encounter any more activity on our Data Logger. However, when our attention was drawn by a question from a member of our production team, our handheld camera captured more pressure changes as we talked about Tom Rogers and Conrad Paeben with a producer who asked us if their deaths were confirmed suicides. We said we werenât 100 percent sure, but both men were found dead on the premises. The entire time we spoke about Conrad and Tom, pressure changes registered on the Data Logger. When we commenced our investigation and asked questions pertaining to Ben Schierbaum and Mary, there were no pressure changes to speak of.
Infrasound
One of the scariest claims we wanted to get to the bottom of was the ghost in the antique mirror in the lower-level dining/bar area of the hotel. We walked through the wooden hallways, OmniMic and laptop in hand, and down the stairs into the pool area. The smell of chlorine and the thick humidity luxuriating in the timber planking of the pool area accosted us before we even made it into the restaurant.
